• Sonoma Coal has a commitment to providing employment and training opportunities for local residents. We will provide ongoing training for our workforce to ensure that Sonoma is regarded as an employer of choice and an enterprise that people wish to do business with.
• The Sonoma project is proud to support many local community projects and organisations. We are committed to the ongoing development of the community we work in. Sonoma has identified the priority areas of education, training and young people as the main focus of our community support programme.

Cultural Heritage

• Sonoma Coal is conscious of the long history of involvement that the local Birri traditional owners have with the land we now occupy.
• We thank the Birri people for the support and assistance they have provided the Sonoma Coal project during the EIS process and since we began mining on the Sonoma site.
• Sonoma has a Cultural Heritage agreement with the Birri People to ensure that the cultural heritage values of the Sonoma site are managed appropriately. We look forward to continuing to work with the Birri People throughout the life of the Sonoma project.
• Sonoma Coal is proud to provide training and employment opportunities to some of the younger members of the Birri Community through our employment programme.
